Dear D5030 Club Presidents...our Group Study Exchange (GSE) team will be exchanging with D3030 in Nagpur, India next Rotary year. Because of the climate, they hold their District Conferences earlier in the year (Dec) and have requested that our team be on the ground in India by mid December, 2010. As a result, our normal GSE timeline has been moved up and we need to select our team leader and team members this spring. The attached note from our District GSE Chair, Bob Kaercher outlines the process and asks for your help in announcing this process to your clubs and in helping to identify potential candidates for our team. Group Study Exchange is another one of those incredible Rotary secrets and if you ever talk with people who have participated in an exchange, they will tell you that it is life changing. Please help us get the word out on this wonderful opportunity. Thanks for your help on this... John Matthews District Governor 2010 - 11 District 5030 |

Rotary District 5030 will once again sponsor applicants for both the two year Rotary Peace Fellowship Master’s Program as well as the three month professional development certificate program. Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace and the successful resolution of conflicts.
Candidates for both opportunities need a Rotary Club sponsor. Candidates may not be a Rotarian, spouse or close relative of a Rotarian. Applications and further information may be found online at the Rotary International website or you can find the attached application below. Individual clubs set their own application and interview dates but completed applications are due to the district chair, Barb Grohe at worldpeace@rotary5030.org by May 1. District Interviews will be held on May 22.
If anyone is interested in applying for this scholarship and would like support from the Rotary Club of Lake Union please feel free to contact info@LakeUnionRotary.org.
Both the certificate and the Master’s programs offer wonderful opportunities to further the cause of world peace by helping to train future leaders. Rotary clubs may endorse as many applicants as they would like.
Please share this information with your club members and others who might have an interest in such an opportunity. Questions may be directed to me at bgrohe@comcast.net or 253-639-7777. |
