Happy Hour
For Good! 

Join us on Thursday August 5th from 5:30 to 7:30, for a beautiful Lake Union water front happy hour to benefit Rotary malaria eradication efforts in Zambia.

This innaugural "Happy Hour for Good"  is focused on  the fight against malaria and providing relief efforts for those who are suffering from this preventable disease.  Malaria is a disease that kills a child under 5 every 40 seconds and can be prevented with solutions as simple as bed nets. 

 
At the Happy Hour we will be serving wine, 
 
beer and a spread of delicious snacks and will be talking very briefly about our efforts to work with Rotarians in Zambia to  
bring mosquito nets to families. Come join us for a  fun summer evening on the beautiful deck of the Center for 
 
Wooden Boats  and be happy while doing some good.  Suggested donation is $30 but any level of support for this cause will be welcome.

This week the Rotary Club of Lake Union has another nautical themed meeting (at least the location).  
We are meeting aboard the Tug Boat the Arthur Foss this Friday for a special meeting with our new District Governor John Matthews. 

Our meeting location came about as part of of our recent visioning session which you can read more about in the Vision 4.0 section of this website  One of our fellow members requested that we meet on a boat.  Joe Shickich a long time Board member of Northwest Seaport (and Rotary member) suggested a ship in their fleet the tug boat Arthur Foss.  So a big thank you to Northwest Seaport for hosting us aboard the Arthur Foss.  It should make for a fun and memorable meeting location.

How do you find the Arthur Foss?  

The Arthur Foss is located at the Historic Ships Wharf at Lake Union Park.  It is on the north side of the Armory building at the edge of Lake Union.  We are not far from our regular location at the Center For Wooden Boats.

This Friday, July 2nd  we will be holding a work party in place of our regular meeting. 
We will be helping the Center for Wooden Boats set up for it's Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival. 

We will be getting started working around 7:30 am.   So join us at 7:00 at the Boat house for our regular fellowship over bagles and coffee.

Waterway 18 Celebration - June 21st. 
The Rotary Club of Lake Union has assisted with the work on Waterway 18 for the last several years. Come help celebrate the completion of the construction and revitalization of this wonderful Lake Union Park.

During January and February 2010 the Rotary Club of Lake Union will relocate its meeting location across the waterway to the Armory at Lake Union. 


As part of the Construction that is taking place in Lake Union Park, the waterway where the Center for Wooden Boats is moored will be under construction.   Due to this construction we will be meeting in the nearby historic Naval Reserve Armory meeting room.  

To access the Armory please approach the armory using the new park driveway that runs into the park. (on the map above in green) You will find this driveway between the Center for Wooden Boats parking lot and the new parking lot, which are your two options for parking.  You will enter the armory through the South East door of the armory. (Noted on the map with the green star)

The Rotary Club of Lake Union is proud to be part of the dynamic and changing landscape of Lake Union Park and hopes you will join us in spite of the construction!
